PHIL Brown enjoyed a day session at Appleton Reservoir, setting up in a swim where – with space being at a premium – he decided to fish only one rod.

He was rewarded with three carp, the biggest at 19lbs 4ozs 0drs caught using a PVA mesh bag containing 12 free offerings per fish at about 50yards.

The man can’t keep away as he was there again the following day when he kicked off his session with a 14 pounder after first picking up rubbish left by irresponsible users of this popular facility.

Andy Corr enjoyed his session on the Weaver Navigation on Sunday. He commented that it was nice to see the stretch becoming more popular and full of other members.

Andy ended up with around 10lbs of roach plus a couple of skimmers. This fishery is well worth a visit with easy parking and thanks to our dedicated volunteer, comfortable pegs.

Steve and Martin Cockroft visited one of Warrington Anglers’ outpost venues this past week, the Earl of Harringtons Club shared pool at their Derwent Valley Fishery where we have a reciprocal use agreement with our adjacent River Derwent stretch. They had an enjoyable session catching some nice carp and a bonus tench.

Our Monday Disabled & Over 60s match was fished on the Trent & Mersey Canal on the Farm Road stretch. It was a low weight affair and the winner Bob Fitzpatrick, who drew in the works, caught roach and perch on pinkie and maggot for 2-9-9.

Just a cat’s whisker behind was match organiser Jimmy Byrne fishing the same method with a weight of 2-9-5.

Catches of interest to members of The Anguilla Club would be the two eels landed in last week’s match on the Bridgewater Canal at Preston Brook of 3-11-0 apiece caught by both Chris Wray and John Ashwin fishing the middle of the canal.

A strange catch by Bob Fitzpatrick in the same event was a 4lb terrapin!

There is a working party at Sandiway Lakes on Sunday. Meet in first car park on the small lake around 8.30am. Any members who would like to help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are visiting our Shocklach Fishery, parking is on the concrete at the side of the farm building and not on the grass! Also please ensure that you check that the gates are securely closed.
